Why can you not see whether AI answers mention your product?
Because each answer is generated for one shopper, inside one private session, and then it is gone. There is no public results page to consult, no referrer trail to read, and no log a merchant can open.
So the honest unit of observation is not how often you are mentioned. It is one real buying question, asked the way a shopper asks it, and one real answer read closely: who got named, for what reason, from which source.
What the blind spot is made of
- The session is private: what one shopper was told is not what another will be told.
- The answer is assembled at the moment of asking, so yesterday’s reading proves little about today’s.
- Traffic tools count visits to your pages. A shopper who took the AI’s word never arrives, so the miss lands exactly where nothing measures it.
What honest observation looks like
Take one buying question that matters to your business and read a real answer to it, whole: the product it names, the reason it gives, the sources that reason leans on, and where those sources are stale or wrong about you.
One reading is evidence about that answer at that moment — no more. That bound is not a defect; it is what makes the next step checkable: how the loop turns one reading into one reversible change.
What this answer does not claim
- One observed answer speaks for itself, not for every session, every phrasing or every assistant.
- Observation shows what an answer leaned on. It does not by itself say what to change, and it never promises the next answer will differ.
