Is an inconclusive result bad news?

No — it is an answer, about attribution. It says the change was made, and the evidence needed to credit it or rule it out has not arrived: often because exposure could not be confirmed either way.

It is deliberately not called a failure, because nothing failed: the mission completed, the verification stayed open, and the report says exactly that.

Updated 2026-08-25Terms this page leans on: inconclusive · evidence grade

What it actually states

  • Execution: completed. The approved words are live on the named asset.
  • Exposure: unknown, stated as unknown.
  • Direction: none claimed, because claiming one would outrun the evidence.
  • Next evaluation: what would have to be observable before this question can be answered.

Why the wording is guarded

In most windows the honest grade is a low one. A method that only reported its good weeks would be a highlight reel, and you cannot learn from a highlight reel. The guarded wording is the product keeping its own ceiling.

What a four-week window can and cannot establish: the pilot page.

What this answer does not claim

  • Inconclusive is not evidence that the change did nothing. Absence of attribution and absence of effect are different absences.
  • This page describes how a result is reported. It reports no result of its own.
